We watched a PBS Bill Moyers special last night, he was interviewing an author who had written a book about the American Future. This man was very optimistic about the future, he reason being that the American people have shown in the past that though normally they are selfish and isolated and short sighted, when a real crisis appears things change. It is in these times that something different comes through, and we do what we need to do to pull together and make it through the crisis. Then we go back to being selfish and isolated!
